Built-in onscreen Creative Consultant
One of the many intuitive functions and features of the BERNINA 550 QE is the built-in Creative Consultant which can be accessed via the LCD display. This clever tool will help you achieve success when sewing and quilting. Step-by-step, you enter the basic information on your sewing project via descriptive icons, choose the fabric type, and specify the nature of your project – and the Creative Consultant will show you which combination of needle, presser foot and thread is best suited to your project, and which stitch patterns are available for it. The BERNINA 550 QE not only offers an excellent "jump-start“ for novices – it also lends a hand to experienced sewers with troubleshooting when there’s a problem with fabric feed, when the thread forms loops, or when the needle used doesn’t seem to suit the fabric.
Extensive stitch library
With the BERNINA 550 QE, you’ll have access to a generous library of 22 utility and 155 decorative stitches, including 24 different quilting stitches. Ten buttonhole, eyelet, and button-sew-on stitches and four sewing alphabets also form part of the BERNINA 550 QE’s extensive stitch package. With features like these, the 550 QE offers everything you could possibly need to create ambitious sewing and quilting projects of the highest quality. What’s more, the properties of each stitch, such as length, width, and needle position, can be customized and combined with one another, and thanks to the BERNINA 550 QE’s built-in memory function, your changes can be saved permanently or temporarily.
